Meet The Face Behind MK Bookkeeping Inc.

I’m Maria Kariotis, the proud owner of MK Bookkeeping Inc. 

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I ended up in bookkeeping by accident. I originally wanted to be a therapist, but I was a young mom and needed to work. So I started in an office, learning bookkeeping, and decided to go to school part-time to get my certification.

After attending five years of schooling and hands-on training, I began providing bookkeeping part-time for extra money. It all grew from there, and twenty-five years later, I’m still going strong. 

Over the past two decades, I’ve noticed that when I first launched my business, many companies did their books manually, and few used a computer unless it was an excel spreadsheet. 

However, today all bookkeeping is strictly done on computers. In addition, I’m steadily transitioning to cloud-based software to serve clients virtually and save them precious time.

I understand they’re busy managing their day-to-day operations while attempting to scale up, so I strive to do all the heavy lifting regarding their books and meeting their industry’s tax requirements.

I’ve worked in many fields, including real estate, autobody, insurance, medical, restaurant, entertainment, retail, and manufacturing. My extensive knowledge of these sectors helps me to serve my clients effectively.

I work with integrity, and I believe what sets me apart is my transparency. I dislike when bookkeepers avoid informing their clients about what’s happening. Therefore, I ensure my clients are made aware of the bookkeeping process and are confident in my abilities.

I also attribute my success to my helpful employees that work hard to exceed expectations. Jobs always get completed on schedule, even if it means working through the night as my reputation is everything, and I don’t take it lightly.

As a result, it fills me with immense satisfaction when a client recommends me to their associates. Referrals are the best compliment as it tells me that I’m on the right track.

When I’m not number crunching, I’m a mom to a beautiful adult son who is the love of my life. I’ve worked hard to build my business over the years to show him that anything is possible when you set your mind to it. 

I also enjoy spending quality time with family and friends and going to movies or musical shows, which is my favorite pastime.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
